Many of our decorative ceramic pieces are finished with faux cracks, distressing, drips, color variations and /or tine line in the glaze. These qualities are intentional and desirable, as they reflect the genuine hand-made quality of the piece. Vases, cachepots, planters and other decorative garden containers should be brought indoors during freezing temperatures. Liners are recommended. To clean, wipe with a damp cloth.
(Sofia, Minerale, Cero, Ambra)
Our glassware is all made by hand and is hand wash only.
Murano glass lighting pieces are made of mouth-blown Venetian glass and 24K gold leaf. They come with simple assembly instructions and a diagram. Occasional light dusting is recommended. In the event that a part should be broken, Arte Italica can special order the replacement piece.
(Solid Pewter, Vintage Pewter, Coccodrillo, Cypress, DiVinci, Medici, Terra Frames, Starry Night Frames, Fantasia, Folia, Mare, Frutta, Lucia, Peltro, Roma, Romana, Veneto, Donatello, Taverna, Tavola)
Pewter, which is the fourth most precious metal in existence, is comprised of mostly tin and very small amounts antimony and copper to add strength and durability. The higher the tin content, the better quality of the pewter. Arte Italica pewter is made using 95% tin, which is the highest possible content.
It is perfectly safe to eat and drink from pewter. Pewter is an ideal material for serving pieces and dishes, as it is a naturally heat-conducting metal. Pewter does not tarnish like silver, and very rarely requires any polishing. Pewter is a soft metal, and is susceptible to scratching. To remove scratches, simply buff gently with the finest grade "0000" steel wool. Pewter should never be used in the oven or microwave. Pewter is dishwasher -safe on a low-heat setting. Please avoid abrasive or citrus-scented detergent. Prolonged exposure to citrus, vinegar and other acidic foods can harm the finish of pewter, so please wash your pewter immediately.
Pewter & Ceramic
(Tuscan, Perlina, Lino, Festivo, Caffe, Venus)
Our pewter and ceramic dishes may be washed in the dishwasher on a low-heat setting, using a mild detergent. Abrasive or citrus-scented detergents should be avoided. This collection is not safe for oven, microwave or freezer use. When exposed to extreme temperatures, the pewter and ceramic may separate. If this should happen, we recommend the use of a clear epoxy to repair the bond.
(Bella Bianca, Giglio, Helena, Isabella, Regina, Terra, Veronica)
Our pewter & stainless steel flatware collections are safe for the dishwasher. We recommend a non-abrasive detergent without citrus or perfumes (as these will mar any metals) and the low heat/energy dry cycle.
Pewter & Glass
(Giovanna, Tesoro, Splendore, Verona, Tulipani, Milano, Animale, Coccodrillo Barware, Fantasia, Taverna, Tavola, Starry Night)
All of our pewter & glass items are handmade of Italian pewter and either mouth-blown glass or crystal. Mouth-blown glass can be irregular in shape and may contain small bubbles and imperfections, which is expected. The pewter and glass are fused together with a special clamping machine and/or industrial epoxy. All pewter & glass items should be washed by hand using non-abrasive, non-citrus detergent. These items should not be used in the oven, microwave, or freezer. Our pewter & glass drinkware collections should not be submerged in warm water to soak but should be washed individually and dryed. Accidents do happen and they can be repaired by Arte Italica if the glass is broken. Please contact our Customer Care Center for more information about our glass repair program.
Pewter & Porcelain(Campagna, Giardino, Zupperia)
Our porcelain can be placed in the dishwasher, microwave and the oven. Pewter should never be placed in the microwave or oven, but can be placed in the dishwasher on a low-heat setting. Please avoid abrasive or citrus-scented detergents. Prolonged exposure to citrus, vinegar and other acidic foods can harm the finish of pewter, so please wash your pewter immediately.
Pewter & Slate
Our pewter and slate trays are sealed and safe for food. Like all natural stone some acidic or oily foods can stain/discolor the surface. We recommended washing the slate immediately after use. We recommend using a cloth with olive oil and rub down the entire piece of slate to keep liquids from absorbing easily into the natural stone. Both the pewter frame and slate insert should be washed by hand.
Silver and Gold-gilded Items
(Vetro Gold & Silver, Baroque Gold & Silver, Vittoria Gold & Silver, Cristallo)
Our gilded pieces should never be placed in the dishwasher, oven or microwave. Please hand wash with a non-abrasive detergent to ensure the beauty of the piece. We recommend the use of a soft jewelry cloth to buff any tarnish that occurs naturally on our silver-gilded pieces.
Wood & Leather
The trays are treated to be moisture resistant, however do not emerse or allow liquid to stand on trays. To clean, wipe with a damp cloth.
