About Mariposa

We are delighted and grateful to have been be carrying the MARIPOSA line since 1999. Livia Cohen, owner, has been dazzling us with her unique and classic napkin boxes, platters, bowls and fabulous glasses for some time, always coming up with something new and fresh each season. Though many have tried, no one has been able to match the classic, elegant, and superb products that Mariposa has to offer.

If you are not passionate about what you do, it will show. At Mariposa, we preserve eternal magic by honoring the handmade. For decades we've searched the world for superb design paired with craftsmanship, always guided by the ideal of combining unique styles to set a fascinating table.

Together with our Mexican partner, Arturo Moctezuma, we celebrate the passion of food and the splendor of making others feel at home. From the sleek brilliance of aluminum serveware to the grace of handblown glass, we give you the unforgettable.

When Livia asked Arturo how he decided who can be a good craftsman, he affectionately answered "Attitude. With a good attitude you can learn anything!" We invite you to join us in celebrating our artistry in context. Let the joys of the season begin.

Over 30 years ago, Livia Cowan began a personal quest in search of the handmade and the beautiful. What began as a youthful endeavor across borders has developed into Mariposa: a harbor for beautiful craftsmanship, an international passion project, and most of all, a family.

Wood + Slate

Slate and Wood are made from North American sustainable resources. Both are food-safe. Do not place in the dishwasher, microwave, or oven. Do not use cooking oils to moisturize Slate; periodically apply a thin coat of mineral oil to prevent drying. Do not use Slate products as cutting boards. Avoid extended contact with water or acid-based foods. Handwash Wood in warm water with mild soap and dry. Clean Slate with a damp sponge. Regular use of Slate may result in subtle scratches or color changes. This makes up the patina of Slate and is not considered a defect.
